Rope access certification cohort

Fourteen GarnetShores technicians have completed IRATA rope access training and assessment, renewing and extending certifications across Level II and Level III. The cohort keeps the company’s supervisory cover ahead of its campaign commitments for 2025.

Rope access remains the backbone of our inspection and maintenance work at height. IRATA-trained and assessed technicians, working to the IRATA International Code of Practice, allow inspection and preventive and corrective maintenance scopes to be completed without scaffolding — a decisive advantage on pipe racks, flare booms and offshore assets where access build-up is costly or impractical.

The cohort included six technicians progressing to Level III, the supervision grade required to manage rope access teams on live plant. Their assessments covered rescue and retrieval from suspension, worksite risk assessment and the planning responsibilities that sit with a Level III supervisor under the code of practice.

“Certification is the entry ticket; the standard we hold is the daily discipline around it,” said Ravi Chandran, HSE Manager. “Every technician re-briefs on rescue plans and drop-object controls before each shift, on every site, regardless of grade.”

Training and assessment were delivered by an IRATA-accredited training company, with all practical assessments completed independently. GarnetShores now fields 38 certified rope access technicians across its call-off campaign crews.
